Gradient Radius (Weight Paint)

Right now using gradient tool covers whole visible geometry.

My suggestion is to add influence radius same as in proportional edit mode. So when you drag gradient line, using mouse wheel will increase/decrease influence radius of gradient.

This is useful to paint gradients in specific areas better without hiding unnecessary geometry that right now touched by gradient tool due to lack of radius feature.

Hello, I talk only about linear gradient tool. The main idea is to change influence radius with mouse wheel.

Exact same as it works in proportional edit mode.

Everything inside influence radius (circle) paints with linear gradient, and everything outside is not.

I think the proposition needs to be a bit clearer. Maybe with some representative screenshots with annotations or something schematic, maybe clip even.

Because, on Weight Paint Mode, the Gradient Tool has got two alternative Options: Linear|Radial Radio Buttons. Are you referring to the Radial Option specifically?

Then, both of them, indeed, allow to drag a line similarly [ LMB-Drag ]; however, the line dragge with the Radial Option, doesn't show any visual circular reference feature around it, however the manual adjustment of that assumed circle of Weight Painting Influence, is currently very easy to manipulate with the dragged line as long as we Hold: we can move back and forth without Applying the Weight-Painting output; what we cannot do, is to vary the Influence OR the Strength apparently, during line dragging with the Gradient Tool on Radial Option.

But, one design challenge is that, on Weight Paint Mode, the most spontaneous variations for Influence and Strength, are reached using [ Ctrl + F, Wheel Scroll ] and [ Shift + F, Wheel Scroll ] respectively; but there is no Tool that I know that can change those using [ Wheel Scroll ] alone, least when already Pressing/Holding another type of command (e.g, Brushing with the Brush Tool over the Mesh [ LMB-Drag ]).

So, that means that, what you are suggesting, which I believe holds potential for further developments, would imply a much deeper, more integrated and pervasive re-thinking on how the entire Tool X Options system can work synergically in Blender. It's not just the habit of one specific Tool... if one would be able to change the Influence (and/or Strenght) by stacking commands one on top of each other like that so easily, then, this should probably become a new standard, not only for Weight Paint Mode, but for all Painting Modes in Blender.

I cannot vote because of the lack of information, but also because of this more holistic dilema in Blender's logic. I think the proposition should be better presented, and possibly re-assessed in what it holds as potential, and discussed by more users, designers and developers.
