Deferred Update for Modifiers

Deferred updated would be a great quality of life update.

Meshes that have performance intensive modifiers, are hard to work with. Especially if you are manually modelling the base mesh. The responsiveness can be awful.

An easy solution for this is to disable the performance heavy modifiers. But it can be tedious to toggle them on and off.

So, it would be great if there was a Deferred Modifiers mode. When enabled, the modifiers would be updated only after the Tool is applied. Then the modifiers wouldn't eat performance while you work on the mesh with a Tool.

It would be even better if we could set individual modifiers, or nodes in Geometry Nodes, to defer update. Then we could for example disable heavy SubD modifier while editing the mesh. But keep others active, like mirroring, for example.

Hi, IsViewport node can be used with a switch for anything heavy in GN and for Subdiv modifier you can use the Simplify panel limit. Maybe the way we access these can be improved?

Is Viewport node allows you to have different stuff happening in Render and in Viewport. This is not what I'm after with this FR. I want to see “everything” in viewport. I just want to pause the evaluation of heavy nodes while tool/modal operation is active.
