Panoramic Equidistant and Equisolid camera options for EEVEE

Critical for Digital Dome Animation, currently we have to use cycles to be able to render this natively. Given all the updates to EEVEE and large speed difference (Especially when rendering 8K by 8K images would love to be able to select panoramic and have the same options as cycles.

There is already an open Idea about that. But it could help, to keep it fresh. I will give a talk at fulldome festival in Jena (Germany) in July and want to raise awareness in the planetarium community for more support towards blender in general and eevee for fulldome specifically. I also plan a survey for planetariums where they can state support readiness.

Also I created a chatroom on the Blender Matrix server for Planetarium purposes. Have to be honest, right now, nothings happens there but I guess after Fulldome festival there could be some more movement, since a lot of fulldome people will get annoyed by me ;)

Check out the Matrix channel: chat.blender.org/

We actively use blender to teach our 4th year students Animation for the digital Dome. All of our dome content has been created with it. Is there going to be a recording of the Talk? I would love to engage with you further on this .

EEVEE-next is prepared for this, but requires some attention. I linked the development issue for reference. The main issue is that rasterizers and GPUs are not good at non-linear cameras types and requires specific optimizations to make it as fast as you would expect.
