New "Empty" object for a non-destructive modeling workflow: Condensation Empty

I think it would be good enough for Blender and all of us as users to implement a more efficient and non-destructive modeling process, allowing objects to be grouped into some kind of element that would in turn allow new modifiers to be inserted without losing the basic properties of the initial objects.

I'm a classic C4d user who's switching to Blender, and I really miss the ability to group objects into nulls that in turn can apply modifiers to their hierarchical children. I know that people have already commented on the need for groups or instances of groups, or even "Empty" objects to be able to perform that kind of function. What I propose is the creation of a new "Empty" object ...the "Condensation Empty"...and already in passing, two new modifiers.

This new object "Condensation Empty" would have the capacity to treat its hierarchical children as if they were geometric objects, being able to apply modifiers to those hierarchical children even when they were composed of several objects that are giving rise to a more complex one.

The "Stop" modifier could determine the influence of the modifiers at the top of the hierarchy on specific objects below the hierarchy.

I also think it would be necessary to have a modifier that allows access to the edit mode (for instance: "Edit mesh"), of objects generated from different modifiers, for example forms generated from combinations of curves (3ds Max style modifier).

Here are some images that try to explain how you could see all this in Blender. Image

I wonder if a more "Blendery" paradigm for this would be the ability to add modifiers to Groups?

@ammusionist: To a group instance (or, in 2.8, a collection instance), maybe. Afterall, a group instance is just an empty with a dupligroup. If that empty could have a modifier (thanks to the power of asset overrides), then this feature would absolutely be possible.

Great!. I had thought "overrides" was referred only to linked objects. I think that doesnt really matter how the feature it be implemented; (groups, group intances, empties, overrides). The important thing it is that the implemented way it be powefull and versatile, and it can be growth with the coming times or users needs. I wish that feature it be soon in Blender.

Greetings!
