Keyframes should NOT be auto-selected on creation or change

When setting a new keyframe or updating one via autokey or insert in any mode this and any subsequent keyframe is automatically selected in both the Dopesheet and Graph Editor .

This means that when animating and changing many keys or poses, as you normally would, you end up with a whole range of keys that have been automatically selected without asking , and if you then do something in the Dopesheet or Graph Editor you have to first unselect all these keys (with ALT-A or clicking in empty space) before doing anything or you end up accidentally manipulating ALL of them at once when you only meant to modify the one you clicked on. This is very annoying.

On paper it might make sense to highlight a new or changed keyframe, but in practice this is terrible for animation workflow, creating repeated unnecessary steps. Making changes to keyframes in the 3D View should absolutely NOT select them in other modes. When I want to manipulate a set of keys all at once I will select them manually .

I do not want control of this taken away from me and have to actively counteract this every time I'm changing some poses in my animation (which is all the time). I think this needs to be changed, but if there is disagreement about this it could perhaps be made into a toggle-able option in Preferences or elsewhere, with default being no auto-select.

Not sure what happened to my comment, but I implemented a user preference for this, let's hope it gets accepted. :)

I think maybe the website redesign ate some more recent changes (also lost some upvotes). In any case, thank you for writing a patch to fix this. Hope it gets approved.

Yeah I agree that this isn't an ideal option to change selection out from under a user.
