What if two open source projects, Krita and Blender teams merged?
Krita's 2D expertise in brushes, vector and raster image editing, animation, be brought into Blender's grease pencil, image editing and textures. Can we?

what if we also joined with VSCode! and Linux! etc etc. you seem to be working under the assumption that open source software are like Legos and you can just snap them together if you have a little programming expertise, but that is not the case.
You seem to be working under the assumption that code cannot be. An algorithm is language agnositic. A UML ERD, and plenty more can be used as great jumping points. This post was to highlight other projects that are working on very similar things and somebody may want to look at Krita code for research.
As someone with a computer science background I'm not working under any assumptions at all. I'm familiar enough with both codebases to tell you that it's not as easy as you might think.
Just to clarify: are you suggesting that the development teams merge, or also that the softwares merge? If only the development teams, how do you see that applied practically? I mean, both softwares' sources are open, all devs are reachable if you need some chat with them, so in practice if B dev wants to use some K code and vice versa, it's already doable both legally and practically. What would the actual merging bring, aside from spending a lot of time rearranging all the legal associations and entities?
If also the software, ... Why?
In addition to being 100% on testure's stance, I'd feel like merging softwares is not something that interesting.
What would be the gain?
Think about it: you already have Blender in Krita anyway. Merging them would require a lot of time and effort - if even humanly possible in the first place - only to end up with a software that has become harder to work on and maintain, is now heavier for everyone to use, and you add the new issue of forcing the Blender user to deal with Krita and vice versa, although they don't want/need it.
Both Blender and Krita are great in their own way, and they can already grow from each other like from any other open source software, I don't see what any kind of merging would bring.
No
The UPBGE is exclueded around Blender Game Engine, soo.. new aqusition is far possible as impossible in my opinion.

Krita is 170MB Blender is 220MB .. Both 300MB? Not sure.. due GUI.. and this is problem.. Krita is QT GUI and operating rasters more and far from 3D/opengl etc.
The universe will collapse i suppose..
