MAJOR BUG: Completely fails to export this simple scene as FBX [FREEZES BLENDER]
CANNOT EXPORT this github.com/mrlooi/Data/blob/master/beasts.glb file as FBX.
Freezes the entire blender application indefinitely Gets stuck at the export animation step. This GLB has trivial animations yet the blender application completely breaks upon FBX export.
It takes seconds for GLTF export but freezes entirely for FBX.
I tried posting this in Blender forums (link: developer.blender.org/T83858 ) but they refused to acknowledge this as a bug. They think this is a 'performance' issue when in reality it completely screws up the system.

In your own bug report, you say that it does NOT fail to export, and exports properly after waiting for "hours". You say there it is NOT indefinite. So, why are you misleading people now? If it did actually not export, it would be a bug... You also didn't mention what CPU you have, not that it really matters now, but if it's very weak it might explain why it's so slow for you - as it took about 10 minutes for me.
You say yourself it's a lack of optimization. This means it isn't a bug in the same way that subdivision being slow right now (due to the lack of GPU acceleration) isn't a bug, or Cycles rendering interiors slowly or worse - caustics (lack of things like MLT/Bidir, or the new MNEE?), isn't a bug. If it really is a lack of a cache, then ask for that to be added, here, instead of misrepresenting the issue to trick people into thinking that it really is a bug - which wouldn't belong here if it was.
Freezing is expected behavior for a lot of things in Blender, too.
In this case, the FBX exporter works as intended, but could be improved. wiki.blender.org/wiki/Process/Bug_Reports
The default FBX exporter isn't the only FBX exporter, and it has plenty of other issues (no doubt caused by the licensing of the file format itself), so if you're so desperate for a better exporter you can try the other one, but I can't guarantee anything, as I haven't. It costs $28. blendermarket.com/products/better-fbx-importer--exporter
You should edit your post to properly describe the issue - without twisting things - and to be focused around speeding up the FBX exporter, not around your perception that it's a bug.
