Audio node editor for VSE
create a new node editor for audio compositing. basic nodes for audio effects are : AMPLICATOR, COMPRESOR, DELAY, REVERBE, EQUO, CHORUS, PARAMETRIC EQ, PITCHER) .
An example of it on Fl studio is PATCHER

Maybe should we work on consolidating the existing tools before even considering to turn Blender into a DAW software?
this one is important for video's audio editing.
That seems highly debatable to me. It would surely be important for an actual production-level video editing suite. Which Blender is not. It's a 3D content creation program with a basic video editing tool after all.
So I don't see the need to invest the very limited development power we have on adding power tools in that area while there are lots of other features which are more inline to Blender's goals and its community needs.
I respectfully disagree, Blender is more than just 3D. With the litany of features this program already has now and in the works, it doesn't seem so far fetched to potentially have this somewhere down the line.
I am not saying that Blender does only 3D. I say that as of today, firstly the current video editing tools in Blender are far from robust enough to justify adding advanced tools in, and secondly that it's not the main focus the Blender development has right now.
Remember when Blender had an entire full-on game engine in it that nobody ever used for anything? Incorporate a simple audio workflow is not the craziest thing Blender's done.
The difficulty is also overstated by people who know nothing about audio. A mono audio stream is just a 1D texture. The vital formulas allowing sample modification and comparison were defined in early last century - it's not like 3D graphics where new papers are constantly reinventing the approach and consumer GPU tech is always changing.
Blender can't even slow audio down without changing its pitch, or change pitch without changing audio speed! The VSE is barely even basic, FFMPEG supports tempo change without changing pitch, and Blender uses FFMPEG behind the scenes for a few things already!
I feel some sort of improvement to audio is desperately needed, I can't have to go to Audacity just to do such a simple thing, timing would be much easier if it was all in Blender. Maybe ship that one Audacity addon with Blender, IDK. With everything nodes, nodal audio sure sounds cool.
Isn't the point of some of the movies, like BBB, to show that it can all be done inside Blender?
@Viktor.smg
Exactly! If the raw editing tools were able to do at least the basics of audacity, that would make more sense. Let's just not put the cart before the horse.
Right-click select is created to allow people to make some suggestion on what could be implemented on blender to make it an amazing software for user. Is my propasal a bad idea? the proposals are made to be implement when their a good one even if it take time.
Sure, and the comment sections are made so that we can discuss the proposals, that includes the pertinence of the proposal at the time of the discussion. Saying it's not the right time for a proposal does not mean it's bad.
Especially if you can add VST effects as nodes!
did someone use patcher in Fl studio
Hi, we have to look at Audio, based on the actual use of it, mainly in the VSE for editing media with specific sound requests. I mean, mixing surround, create VR/AR audio effects, or simply mixing audiosources and strips. What i mean here, is that nobody wants blender to become a DAW, but an integral media production platform, including basic audio editing and mixing.
i think we have here a different approachforimplementation, because audiocomes in Blender in different areas, not only the sequencer.
I think an audio node system would be too much for blender. Modifiers on audio stripes would be a more reasonable approach
hi toby, as blender goes to "everything nodes"... i dont see here any lack of consistency.. i will be anyway at one point. i really suggest to keep looking at this possible update as soon as possible, even if it takes a year to implement the first nodes a.k.a audio mixer, in/out, Eq and filters
