Clear & Apply scale - who needs it?

Most of the time I have to fix this problem of scale, not funny at all with tens or hundreds duplicates, and I never needed to reset the scale. So why this command exists? Can someone give me a good example where this is important? In my experience, beside few modifiers most of blender's modeling workflow is destructive anyway... I'd like an option to have the scale applied automatically when I resize in Object Mode.

Edit: A modifier with Clear/Apply transforms selectively that can be copied to multiple objects will also work.

I need it, let it be. When you animating scale, you definitely want that feature present. The impossibility to apply scale for instanced objects is inconvenient I must admit

I think having the option would be great. 95% of the time the applying scale is causing an issue and 5% is intended usage for me. It is problematic for new users and one of the most common problems people have when they export game models from blender. But when you learn and become comfortable in blender it maybe doesn't bother as much anymore as you learn to scale in edit mode you are more aware that scaling in object mode is important and not just that the scale looks right on screen.

Hey, please think about animation as well. If the scale was always automatically reset to 1, then it would be impossible to animate an objects scale.

* @Adam Juhasz * He is not asking it to be done always automatically but an option for the scale to be applied automatically.

So what is it, remove the commands completely, or give one the option to 'autoreset' while working? This behavior is found in ALL 3d software, and is there for a purpose.

* @rob * second option. I'm not against this funtionality but would like an alternative workflow. With scale you don't mess coordinates and you turn it off for animation the same as you do with snapping for example.

Bad title. Many ppl need it. But option with autoapply is nice too. Alternative of this option is working in edit mode.

This can be a similar switch to auto merge vertices or X symmetry mod. You may never use them and if you do is just for specific purposes. Is just an option for modeling and resolving problems with linked objects, unwraping, and modifiers.

No thank you. While admittedly there are a number of scenarios for new users where they have issues as a result of not having properly applied scale.

However, there are arguably an equal number of scenarios where new users already get into similar trouble because they made object-level transforms while in Edit mode rather than Object mode, resulting in a model with wonky local coordinates. Those issues are typically much harder to fix than ones related to applying scale.

So auto-applying scale (even as an option) is likely to create more instances of the second, harder-to-solve problem for new users. Instead, I'd rather see more clear documentation and training on when users need to apply scale.

* @Jason van Gumster * So you say that more experimented users must endure just for the educative value that apply Scale has for new ones?

* @Ge Ro * No. I'm saying that although it's annoying to have to occasionally apply scale, it's an easier thing to fix as a user than undoing auto-applied scale or object-level transforms in Edit mode.

* @Jason van Gumster * I agree that position and rotation can be problematic but not scale. Having scale 1 is never a problem. But having thousand objects with no method to tell the ones with scale other than 1 or even negative is a hell in many ways. Anyway I'll post another possible solution.
