ability to increase samples for emission materials when in
small objects which have an emission shader cause a lot of noise due to insufficient samples. It would be great if path tracing emission shaders could have the ability to increase the number of samples (same as you get in branched path tracing).

isnt this addaptive rendering what blender these days sort of does ?.
* @peter.boos * no, adaptive rendering stops rendering when a pixel is no longer considered noisy. Increasing samples for emission shaders means the pixel becomes less noisy quicker.
* @3d -illusions.co.uk * It treat pixels from the emission shader itself but not the GI that its producing and this is what causing the problem here so actually adaptive sampling could be the solution.
* @Shimoon * Check out redshift's per light sample settings to see what I mean, or blender's mesh light sub-sample settings if in branched path tracing mode. Adaptive sampling is limited to the max number of samples set, but also it's not per light, so it's not efficient to keep sampling light sources that are already clean.
