Global Correct UVs \ Preserve UVs

For environment art - this function is must have function. Without it, it is very inconvenient to work with tile materials when you need to make small changes to the object.
Currently my number one "Wish List" item for Blender!
Coming from 3DS Max (which has "Preserve UVs") & Modo (which has "Slip UVs") this is one of the few features I'm sad to see missing in Blender.
I make game environments, and often need to make small adjustments to objects that already have UVs for tiling textures (Like moving a doorway over, expanding a window, lengthening a plank of wood, adjusting rock cliffs, terrain, etc.)
Every time I make that kind of edit I then need to go re project and align all the UVs that were effected. With a preserve UV option you can edit like this and not worry about the UVs becoming distorted.
The main tool I would want it to work with is simply the Move / Rotate / Scale tools, so when you move edges or verts the UVs adjust accordingly. (Perhaps n the sample area where "Auto Merge" is)
This video demonstrates its very basically in Modo: youtube.com/watch and a video demonstrating it in 3DS Max: youtu.be/NUuxXsCPzWk
I think this could be a setting in the uv editor. Because that it what it does. It does things to the uvmap. So you can toggle it on and off based on what you want to do. I'd not want to get rid of the tool operation setting for this as these two do work well together. Even if on the surface it could look like overlapping functionality.
The uv editor setting would be great when you want to edit your mesh and not toggle the one button all the time. But the tool setting is also very useful as it allows you to fix the uv AFTER the tool finishes. So you don't need to go back, turn this on and then redo your operation. You can just do your operation and check it on or off based on whether you want.
Definitely not put this into object settings for the same reason you would not put shading settings there either.
Where would this feature be enabled? How would a user make use of it? Example mock-ups would be most helpful.
* @Jason van Gumster * For example it could be enabled in object properties tab. Also this is a pretty useful thing when iterating through different stages of asset production - mostly with tileable materials
As a gamedev's environment artist I'd say this is a must have function. I miss it in Blender.
This is a must, I was the only one using Blender in "professional" archviz environment for last 3 years, all the other team mates were using Maya. Even though Blender is way faster for architectural work, the lack of preserve UV's function really slowed me, UV unwrapping - texturing part which would take half of day to finish in Maya, took significantly longer in Blender...
Imagine 1km x 1km area with 300 houses and you're asked to sort out pavement slabs around the houses, with preserve uv's it's a joke, but if you're doing it manually inside of UV editor, it's the real nightmare....
This is video from 3Ds Max: youtube.com/watch I think it would be pretty cool feature for architecture and gamedev modelers.
Will like to have a update on Preserve UVs that not perfect like 3DS max a lot of studio work with preserve UV for Texture Tillable.
Hello guys! There's already a preserve UV function in which I found in Blender 2.81. It's just right under UVs drop down>texture lock>toggle lock. I hope you guys have a good day!
