Instantaneous understanding of spatial direction
Instantaneous understanding of spatial direction It is a proposal to be able to instantly have the address of the views in 3d space. In the concept I put the head of Suzanne, and unless you do not know a monkey, it is a form that we understand since childhood. The head of Suzanne in the corner can induce laughter but it is just an example,it could be any other shape. Shafts in the form of sticks are useful but can not distinguish correctly without paying a little more attention.

I couldn't resist.
In all seriousness, I think a monkey head would be great. I want this to be an option.
@dpdpforlife: The monkey is just to show the idea behind, but I think you do not understand it
To me, it looks more childish and silly. If that happens, that would be funny tho. ^^
But only as an option aside from other serious and usable things.
@loic.dautry: The idea is the powerful, How much more serious than you know instantly your actual view?. Do not look at the aspect, this artists can do pretty.
The proper functioning of a tool prevails over its appearance.
The best look possible for a tool is something conveying its usage and functions in the most simple and efficient way without any clutter.
If an exotic look doesn't accomplishes that, or brings nothing to the tool, or makes it look like a gimmick, that's a problem.
You might not agree, but to me, a Suzanne head here looks more like a private blender community joke meant to be funny the first time you see it and maybe for some more hardcore blender fans, but mostly ludicrous compared to a proper view manipulator. Even the current dev one looks more usable, and it hasn't been worked by a designer yet.
per rotate, with cursor over suzanne, show a circle with opaccity like the current, clic and drag
@Salvador Garcia: I was thinking of a transparent model with lines that mark the outline
I think we had the same idea. We should have this view tool as an option, maybe a addon.
