Implement 3dn-bip "blazingly-fast-preview-loads-images-of-arbitrary-size" right into blender and replace old thumbnail code
the project owner specifically asks that someone will take over this project... its implemented in many (hq) addons already and could replace blenders internal code.

It's usually the opposite, people who want to ship their addon into Blender must commit to maintaining it.

its a library for thumbnail creation and rendering and much faster than blenders own method. the developer has recently stopped developing it and aks specifically for someone to pick it up ..
blender could implement it into their code as a drop in replacement for the current method of thumbnail creation, which is extremely slow and janky .. thats why i post it here.
