Paste Pose in local position rather than copied world position.
When animating a walk cycle, which isn't on the spot, but rather moving through space - you copy a pose - for example the legs at their first widest position. You then animate the character forwards until you are at the Paste X-symmetry position. Which you do to set the opposite Pose.
This however resets the world position of the Pose to where it was initially copied.
My suggestion is an option to Paste the Pose in a relative position to a selected object, such as the foot. This would ensure the Pose was correct but in progressed World Position.

Yes more control over pose pasting is needed. I use a hack by selecting all the controls I am going to copy and set the 3d cursor to the selection on the frame I want to paste on then paste the pose and snap keep offset everything to the 3d cursor so I get the pose moved to the right location and then keyframe it.
I should be able to paste it in the location I want.
While I see some ideas in the thread, there are many types of rigs and IK controls etc. non-root motion and on and on that make it necessary to paste a pose in world space location and sometimes orientation and while we do have a global copy/paste addon it is only working on one selection at a time.
I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea, but in your example wouldn't you use a master bone for the world position of the character and then paste the pose for all bones except the master? So then the character would stay in the same position that the master is in and only the feet, chest, hands etc would be changed in local space relative to the master when pasting. This workflow does make it a little bit more difficult to prevent feet from sliding, but it does solve the issue of world positions getting reset.
Blender copies local space only by default, you need an addon to copy worldspace poses.
Are you sure you simply aren't copy pasting bones whose current local space is the rig's root bone which is at the wolrd center ?
That may be the case, but what I'm suggesting is the ability to choose where the Copied Pose is applied to on the rig relative to the selection. Mainly the legs.
So an initial walk cycle with legs apart, right foot back left foot forwards, could be copied, symmetry applied and pasted with the left foot as the root position. The left foot wouldn't move but the hips etc would move forwards. Would make walk cycles easier.
