Output Vertex Group for Modifiers

Hi!

I would like to propose a feature that would let modifiers output a vertex group of all the new geometry that has been created.

For example, when you use the Boolean Modifier, all the new vertices created can be added to a vertex group which can later be used in a Bevel Modifier.

This can be implemented as an option in the following modifiers-

  • Array
  • Bevel
  • Boolean
  • Mirror
  • Screw
  • Solidify
  • Weld
  • Wireframe

This feature can be really useful for hard-surface modelling. What do you guys think?

Edit- This is already available for Solidify modifier in the newer versions. Thank you, Gorgious for pointing it out.

Yes, I agree! I also made a request for the Boolean modifier blender.community/c/rightclickselect/tHfbbc/

Hello, for your information this feature already exists in blender 2.83 for the solidify modifier (you can specifiy a VG for the whole shell and only for the rim) . I'm all in favor of the rest but I can easily see why it is not easily doable for some (most) of them.
