Right click NLA strips to 'flatten' (bake all to one) like layers in photoshop/Krita' ('Merge Layer Down')
I propose that we can select two tracks in the NLA editor, right click and 'Flatten' to bake animation in selected NLAtracks only. This should then remove the old selected tracks and replace them with the resulting baked animation.
As a result, animation will be more intuitive and accessible to more people, resulting in more animators using Blender.

Cool. Like "merge layer down" in image editors. Good idea.
* @Josephbburg * Haha thanks, wish everything was this easy to outline :P
developer.blender.org/D8867 flatten, aka merge
Please also consider how (for instance) Audacity (in its Tracks menu) offers
The first "bakes" the selected tracks to one composite, replacing the source tracks. The Second "bakes" does the same, but keeps the source tracks, and creates a New Track with the "baked" result. Letting the user deside which behaviour they want now seems a better choice.
