Freeze stack modifier
I notice that scenes become slow and unresponsive if there are a lot of modifiers on objects (as they all get calculated every frame).
It would be great if there was a 'freeze stack' modifier, which caches all modifiers above it in the modifier stack. Similar to a cache modifier in Houdini.
The freeze stack modifier should have the option to use either ram or hard drive to store the cache. This would make it possible to use less system ram, and also to store cache between sessions...and even between users (if stored on a network drive for example). It should also have the option to auto update the cache if a parameter in any of the modifiers above it are changed.
Could be thought of as a non destructive "apply".

Agree, modifiers should not recalculate, when: frame changed or object moved (rotated, scaled) in viewport if there is no dependency on other objects (like array around empty). If there is dependency, recalculate only if objects (initial and relative) move relatively and do not, if together.
ATM boolean recalculates each time I move booled group. But instancing helps: it use static version. But it is useful only for static objects.
