Locking axis while moving keys in the graph editor

Would be great to be able to lock the axis on X or Y while moving keys in the graph editor, by pressing a button to lock it by default, or by pressing a shortcut key while dragging the keyframe. Using the G and Y shortcut key it's not accurate and sometimes breaks the concentration, and moving the keys freely it's quite challenging to keep it in one axis. Thanks

Agree. Being able to press G then specify X or Y is fine, but I really miss Mayas MMB drag when you just hold shift to limit one axis depending the drag direction. It's simple, faster than pressing multiple buttons, and even more easier on graphics tablet.

This would be incredibly helpful for animation. Also, being able to move tangent handle points in the same way.

Holding MMB as you move in tweak mode or when activating the Grab operator (<kbd>G</kbd>). How is your proposal different?

Just to elaborate on your proposal ,It should be gestural like this.

The moment you click & drag the Cursor it detects the direction you want to go and locks it. image

* @Cobra * Yes, like maya for example, were we can press a button and lock the keyframe movement on X or Y, also in maya, although we can lock the direction in one axis, if we drag it while pressing shift we can move it in the locked axis.

Also, a great feature in your example is the ability to use the MMB to drag the keyframe from any place in the Graph editor. Did post any suggestion for that feature?
