Boolean modifier using "Collections"
Currently boolean modifier only uses one object.
As an architect, when you try to make a bunch of windows on a building mesh, it turns out you need a number of boolean modifiers for many windows and doors. Since each door and window is a different object, the building mesh needs modifier for each hole. It's too many of them.
It would be a great help if the boolean modifier can use a collection, instead of a single object. The user might be able to choose between object and collection.

Personally, I think Collections should have the ability to have their own modifiers, that affect all objects in the collection too.
@visprotis:
Agreed. In Cinema 4D you could create a null/empty and nest objects under it similar to Collections where any modifier applied to that null/empty would effect all contained. It is one of a just a few options I miss when modeling in Blender 2.80.
Of course, Blender 2.80 is in beta, and Collections are a new feature so I am keeping my fingers crossed that as they both mature more functionality will be added.
@visprotis: Unfortunately, as long as objects can be placed in several collections, it won't be possible to allow modifiers in collections.
On the other hand, it should be possible to use a collection in a boolean modifier as shown in the thumbnail.
Totally agree ! Then collections becomes more a sort of composite object, or an aggregate object onto which most of objects operations could be applied.
I totally agree. Collections modifiers would be a great help too.
This should be marked as done now.
* @ Grady * Okay, it is now marked done
