Decimate modifier keeping manifold geom

If decimate modifier gets a manifold geometry as input, it should output manifold too.

I often use heavy geometry for displacement and similar. With the new manifold boolean method, this works very well. But then I want to get down to a more reasonable number of polys, using the Decimate modifier. And this almost always produce lots of errors. So if I want to continue using boolean, I need to clean the mesh after each Decimate step.

But decimate modifier already do it and keep non-manifold meshes.

So virtually every time I do it, I encounter a bug? I have done it twice the last half hour. Both times, errors crept in.

Um, I guess you just made a typo? Since you wrote: "If decimate modifier gets a NON-manifold geometry as input, it should output NON-manifold too." And this is exactly how it works currently. We can pass some heavily non-manifold geometry to decimade modifier and it will collapse some edges as expected but keep geometry non-manifold.

Oh dear, thanks for pointing that out. My brain seems to be a bit overloaded.
