OcclusionRoughnessMetallic map baking

I suggest the option to bake an OcclusionRoughnessMetallic at the same time, the maps must be baked as linear, then the maps are combined in RGB channels in the same order. This allows to export a single map to the game engine which contain 3 informations for a better optimization. After that you just need to add a Separate RGBA node and plug them in their corresponding PBR slots, it is compatible with glTF.

These kind of packing optimizations seem more appropriate to happen on the game engine side rather than inside a content creation tool. I think this particular packing scheme is far from standard in my experience because of compression loss that happens when packing maps together this way. It's also not necessarily a rendering optimization

Maybe the compositer should be able to expose bake results to nodes? Then you could just use the compositor for that.

Isn't it okay if you combine occlusion and albedo rather than occlusion and roughness?

zuorion

@luja19: No, its not ok to merge any 2 maps.

If it would already be possible to do the baking of roughness and metallic map ;)
But I don't really agree to have a baker do it alone, because all map channel it depends on everyone's workflow or projects.

@anthony.guiziou: Ye, that should be done during export like Substance does, but Blender don't have that kind of tools.

AnthonyGuiziou

@Pawel Piotrowski: I can't let you say that blender doesn't have the tools.

So if it's largely possible to do it with blender, anything is possible with nodes, all tool is in blender :)
Like this example, in less 2 minutes, in the compositor and the file output, but we need to bake the roughness, metal in the base color in material for every map and bake as diffuse baker, it's not very practical.
I'm not a coder, but it's possible to make an addon for that https://i.imgur.com/7gESpO4.png
