Legacy Eevee Add-on for Low-End Systems: Bringing Back Older Eevee as a Lightweight Solution

What if there was an add-on to bring back older version of Blender's Eevee render engine? This add-on could make Blender run smoother on low-end computers by using simpler, less resource-heavy rendering methods. It might include:

Better Performance: Reducing CPU and RAM usage for slower systems.

Custom Settings: Letting users adjust quality and speed for their needs.

This would help artists with older computers use Blender more easily.

That sounds like an unreasonable amount of maintenance to do for the BF. While you can still use older versions of Blender.

one might be able to install then use multiple versions of the program [not that lightweight for disk space, but one existing possibility]

for example [present time choices]:

  • v2.79.0
  • v3.6.21
  • v4.2.7
  • v4.3.2
  • v4.4.0beta
  • v4.5.0alpha

The list is way bigger on download.blender.org/release/

yes, the list contains all the former releases [serving as the place of most of my own downloads].

my examples are just the possible choices because...

v2.79.0 = last one with the internal renderer

v3.6.21 = last one of the older long time support versions

v4.2.7 = last one of the present long time support versions

v4.3.2 = present stable build

v4.4.0beta = from the daily builds

v4.5.0alpha = from the daily builds

[should rather edit my first post?]
