Double-click variable scroll bars to maximize

I'm not sure of the name of the UI element, but I'm referring to the adjustable scroll bars in the graph editor. In following a tutorial I instinctively double-clicked on one of them to maximize its range.

My intuition would be that if I had the scroll bars focused on a specific element of a graph I could double click to maximize, then double-click again to restore the previous position/range. I'm not sure if both axes of the graph would maximize together, I don't know if that would be intuitive or not.

If this proposal has merit I think it would apply to all places this UI element is used, not just the graph editor.
