PINS FOR REAL-TIME CLOTH SIMULATION

Since Blender Introduced the cloth brushes I was very excited about this new feature because it is something very similar to the real-time cloth simulation of Marvelous Designer. I'm not an expert Marvelous designer user, but I do sculptures for the marble industry and the drapery is almost my everyday. What makes really the difference in my workflow is the possibility, in Marvelous Designer, to grab the cloth in real-time and freeze the grabbed point in their given position. These points are called "Pins" and are marked in red in the picture below alt Moreover, after the pins are placed, you can go on adjusting the cloth while the simulation is running. This way I'm able to obtain complex drapery, like the one shown in the picture below, in a very short time, with no references. alt In my opinion, this feature is crucial for creating solid bases for sculpting clothes, and maybe there are things that can only be achieved by this technique, like turbans. alt I know that there is a guy who is working on something similar, the addon is called "Modelling Cloth" you can find it from this link blendermarket.com/products/modeling-cloth , it is unstable but it shows that it is possible to build such functionality in Blender. Let me know if you would like to see these tools in Blender too or if you have any opinion about this argument.

marking this as 'Done'. Masking and Auto-Masking is used to pin geometry into place.

I want to do mention this paper that improves the cloth simulation speed by 30 times . Here is a video demonstration of this: youtube.com/watch

* @sandmor1220 * This is under experimentation, we want an industrial solution that is applicable today, the experiment will take at least 5 years to implement in 3d pipeline, the author of this question want solution today and he solves that in marvellous designer but wants few improvements in blender. Two-minute paper shows the power of Google AI to generate 3d model from a single photo based on the shading but is this possible today or not.

* @sandmor1220 * Hello Sandmor, I appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately, this will never be a solution for the case exposed, because it is not really about the speed of the simulation, but more about the ability to move things around in real-time, as you would do in the real-life. In real life, you don't place a blanket upon your bed and let it drop again and again until the fall is perfect, but you progressively adjust it grabbing it from "key" points while taking into consideration the action of the gravity force. That's what Marvelous Designer does, and I think that it is not the most complex aspect of this software that makes it a leader in his field.

This are just my suggestions, In cloth simulation you can use vertex group for such purpose(pinning) and use mask in cloth brush to paint the area which will not be affected by brush. But currently, blender is not as good as marvelous designer or CLO, however it is improved a lot in short span of time

Maybe you can get some idea from this video youtube.com/watch youtube.com/watch

* @mrajendra2150 * hello, and thanks for your reply. I know what you are talking about, I've already had a look at these features, but none of both can help with this purpose. The cloth brushes only apply the real-time simulation locally and the vertex group method can't be applied real-time, as long as I know. The solution might be using the cloth brushes in real-time simulation, that's would be great! I'm not comparing Blender to Marvelous, I'm only telling that in my opinion, with this implementation, Blender could cover most of the needs of the 3d sculptors out there, about the clothing of course.
