on your auto save in deficiencies
I just thought of this this morning religiously to restart blender I use my restart blender batch file on my taskbar when I'm developing
it kills the process and starts it up with a normal batch file command I always use that and I've been wondering why whenever I've had a file
when I'm working on a scene quit on me and I go back to retrieve my power save or blender auto save it's never there you know I can never find it
I can never retrieve a file using those avenues I wasn't think much of it and I started writing my own auto save because I thought there was some issue
I didn't understand but what II figured out is that I'm not sure but it's probably because of the way I restart my files
if your using save post append for some stuff I didn't read through your code so don't really know how you auto save works but if that's what you're doing you're not really solid when it comes to files going into not responding status and quitting like that the way I'm testing you know just killing a file Is how you wanna also test because you know in cases where files just completely quits....
but to what I'm doing in my own auto save is I have a constantly running modal that uses a zero percent of your CPU 's constantly but a constantly running modal that saves your file and this is a better method because I could always count on my auto saves to be there as long as blenders running...I'm currently writing some extra functionality for it but I could send it your way and a lot of this was tested and verified by chat GPT 2 but again I'm spitballing i'm not 100 percent sure how you're writeyour code because I haven't had the time to check but you know just something to keep an eye on
that's a test procedure you wanna do is killing a file and trying to retrieve your autosave and again I've only done these tests using your overwrite method I haven't had a chance to test with custom
Note that I'm writing my code so that it works nicely with your add on and blenders auto save together making like a three prong auto save approach and then testing it everyday for any inconsistencies any failures at all... If you wanna see it I'll send my code when I get done again I wrote a lot of it but I verified all of it through chat GPT constantly .....4

People generally don't want to be "the asshole" for telling you to format your post better, but they also will not bother trying to read a mess. I'll be the asshole. Format it better.
Do not randomly press enter mid-sentence. Do not write excessively large paragraphs. Do not omit all punctuation. This makes reading the text harder and more annoying. If you make it harder/annoying to read, you are more likely to get confused responses, or no responses at all.
Don't tell a story. Explain your issue/suggestion clearly and concisely. Your post can be summed up in 2-3 sentences: "I've had autosaves not work when restarting Blender frequently. I made a modal operator that can autosave fine. Thus there is something wrong with the default autosaves that needs to be fixed."
Do not address your post to some person/s like you have in the title.
If you don't like that autosaves don't work, then say that. I don't either. From what I've been told, having modal operators running stops the default autosave, so that can be one big reason why your autosaves are missing. Modals do not stop other modals on the other hand. Blender's autosaves also only run most frequently every minute.
If you're restarting Blender a lot, and if you're using modal operators a lot (like something as basic as grabbing stuff, or fly navigation), you can easily end up with no autosave this way.
Whether or not this belongs here I don't know. Personally, I think autosaves not working during modals is outright bug-like behavior, or there should be a toggle. But you might be told this is a feature request (especially if you mention a toggle).
I personally would not expect an addon that re-implements the existing autosave functionality to be accepted into master. Especially if the code is as hard to read as your post.
Not sure if I got it all. But if you want to submit code, this isn't the place. Go directly on projects.blender.org/blender/blender
