Shortcuts for view layers

When 2.8 came out, I missed the layer shortcut system. There is no replacement, so I stil use 2.7 Yesterday I tried 2.9 and from docs I discovered the "view layer" between scene and collection. My heart started jumping, but when I looked at properties of view layer, there is no way to add a shortcut. The new view layer is the best highlight toward a replacement of the 20 layers box with related hotkeys.

So please, add the possibility to select a view layer by single keystroke. Pie menues are a real pain. I heavily use 'Z'-key in 2.7 and getting trapped by the pie menu in 2.8 is so annoying :(
