Integrate the Pie Menu Editor into Blender
Blender does have pie menus, but as a user, customizing them usually relies on shortcut menus, and it's not easy to display submenus under the pie menus. I currently rely heavily on the Pie Menu Editor add-on, which has significantly improved my efficiency. However, with the update to version 5.0, the old add-on is no longer functional. Is there a possibility of integrating this functionality into Blender natively? This would better provide users with efficient customization tools. The longer I use Blender, the more I feel that some add-ons are essential to install—this one, for example, as it can greatly enhance the user experience. I don't want to lose such core add-ons completely one day as Blender continues to update. It seems that the 5.0 version by the add-on's author is available at the following address: github.com/Pluglug/pie-menu-editor-fork/releases/tag/v1.19.1

It'd be great to have this functionality built-in or at least get the add-on to either ship with Blender or in the Extensions Platform, but it doesn't seem that's something they want to do.
Could Blender do it anyway? Yes, because the code is open source thanks to Blender's GPL license, but it wouldn't be right.
The best way forward would be for Blender to implement natively a custom menu editor, we need it badly for years for the Quick Favorites menu.
I’d like to leave a quick question regarding the long-term direction of menu customization in Blender.
From Blender’s policy and architecture point of view, is a PME-style tool something that could realistically ever ship with Blender or be distributed through the official Extensions Platform? PME’s flexibility comes largely from allowing users to run arbitrary Python (exec/eval, custom operators, etc.), so I’m not sure whether that already crosses a line for an “official” add-on.
I don't see why not. Blender users need this functionality.
I've personally never used PME since I try to stick add-ons that honor Blender's/free software philosophy. But I've seen others using it and I see the potential. Even for something as basic as editing the Quick Favorites menu it'd be a great addition to Blender's built-in or the Extensions platform.
Could not agree more. This add-on is an absolute game changer.
If the addon's support is completely discontinued by the original author, this mean that the functionality will simply remain for centuries(...
For many people, this addon is already an integral part of the pipeline, and without it, efficiency losses can be multiple. + + + + from me and my colleagues in the studio
