Grease Pencil: Achieving Advanced Rigging Techniques Inspired by Moho and Toon Boom

I believe that there is considerable potential for enhancing the Grease Pencil rigging capabilities in Blender to match the more advanced features available in industry-leading software like Moho Animation and Toon Boom. Both of these programs offer users a streamlined and intuitive workflow that significantly enhances the animation process.

For instance, Moho Animation provides robust bone rigging systems and advanced interpolation methods, allowing animators to create smooth and fluid movements with relative ease. Similarly, Toon Boom offers sophisticated deformation tools and a user-friendly interface that empowers artists to bring their characters to life with minimal effort.

Integrating comparable functionalities into Blender's Grease Pencil would not only improve the overall user experience but also attract a wider audience of animators seeking a versatile tool for 2D animation. Features like enhanced bone structures, improved layering systems, and more intuitive control over in-betweens would greatly benefit Grease Pencil users, allowing them to focus more on their creativity rather than technical limitations. maxresdefault (12).jpg image (3).png image (4).png

Hi, just asking to make it better doesn't really help. What exactly is missing in Blender?

Asking to copy other programs doesn't help either: it's potential legal issues when it comes to proprietary programs, and even without that: people who read you don't necessarily know those programs nor what you are implicitly refering to.

Eh, I'm not good with words, and I use Grammarly. Besides, I'd like a Grease Pencil that allows you to edit vectors while animating. There are so many things to consider. It's just a matter of making Blender more useful. But that was Worth a shot anyway.

Umm i mean blender can do all of this and more. It's just not organized in a way that's Obvious or easy to use if you don't know where to look. You have object level, timeline , and Timeoffset, Levels of animation. Also Shapekeys are being added soon which is blender's version of 'vector deformations being recorded' like in moho. They are also adding ' instancing" at some point.

i made a addon to alleviate/automate some gp frustration. But you still have to learn to use greasepencil extensions.blender.org/add-ons/gp-select/
