Cancel last action

So, I just tried to add a Solidify Modifier and clicked Skin -_- ... Do I have to say more?

Well, in case I have to ... blender freezes and I can't do anything and will have to terminate the process. Is that really how this program should behave? How about every task is a background task and you lock the UI with a sweet nice Cancel button that just stops and does an Undo. That would be perfect.

Maybe an "Are you sure?" message would be appropriate in cases like this.

i think blender should automatically save the scene whenever we do something big (computationally expensive like adding more geometries) and whenever we press ESC button blender should automatically go back to that saved state.

No offense, but what you're asking here sounds more like magic than something actually doable.

I mean, you clicked on a wrong action, of course the computer will try to calculate the action, and if your 3D model is too heavy for the wrong action you chose... then yeah, your software may crash. That's the rule. That's why it's recommanded to save regularly and why there are auto-saves.

And not only it's how that software is supposed to behave, but it's also how ALL the softwares on a computer do, and there's nothing anyone can really do against that.

There is a lot of software that keeps their interface active while performing the computation in the background. Even a simple interface-blocking "computing.." window with a cancel option like described in this post would do the trick.

Having a "Crash Blender right now" button hidden in some modifiers or operations is a huge anti-feature.

That's right for some specific tools that require several actions to be processed, or an action to be processed on multiple frames. Like rendering, for example, that you can also cancel on Blender, btw. But when you do that with something which is just a single action, like a Blender modifier, I'm not sure if that's possible...

Also, I wonder if those "interface-blocking 'computing' window" are really helping. I mean, I already saw such windows which, if the action was too heavy to perform anyway, got frozen, unable to cancel, and forced you to close and open back the software without saving.

Maybe I'm wrong, though, and if that's the case, I apologize. But I'm not convinced there's anything that can be done for David's request.
