Open and save file dialog boxes - make options visible

Make open/save dialog box options visible from the get-go. Or better yet, add an option in Preferences to make this happen.

I really dislike the fact that load dialog / panel options are always hidden, I need to use those often. This always results in hunting that tiny chevron shape, that opens the panel.

I know, I can open it with N-key, but I really don't want to use keyboard commands when I have open or save dialog boxes opened.

There doesn't seem to be a way to save the open/closed state of this sidebar window into startup file, or I haven't figured it out yet.

Best way would be to have a toggle in Preferences for this, so people who don't want to lose window space, can leave it toggled off.

Agree. I cannot think of a solid reason that key parameters need to be hidden by default. It is not a crucial window in which real estate should be a major concern.

It would be nice to have the F9 (option of last operator) to be open by default when opening a .blend file (either from file->open, or from drag and drop), something display on bottom left of the screen, where you could uncheck load-ui.
