Reveal Hiden ( Alt -H ) defaults to "not select"
Simple as that, not sure about most users, but I'm ALWAYS hitting this "Select" check box because I want to keep my current selection unaltered by default.

You can change default options in shortcut editor.
Find value You want to change, and just simply click greyed-out option to set Your default setting.
