Use Vertex Group as Mix shader fac (like dp_paintmap)
Have a need to use a Vertex Group in a shader node to control factor of mix shader to mix 2 different materials. Yeah, you can just select vertices and "assign" a different material, but that doesn't take into account the weight of a particular vertex.
Is this hard to implement? Seems like it would be similar as dp_paintmap in implementation (and use) but include 'weights' of vertices as part of the fac.

VertexColor in shaders is implemented
VertexGroup in shaders is somewhat planned, or afaik considered (afaik)
For now use VertexPaint channels. If You need to, You can use Vertex Color Master addon to convert VGroups into VCol.
* @Pawel Piotrowski * - Thanks. I did indeed work around using vertex paint and referenced with attribute node.
This would be super useful! I've needed this a few times over the years, and I've today found myself searching for a solution.
Being able to dynamically mix a materials with vertex weights would be super useful for motion graphics and abstract work where you have a displacement texture as well. +1
In thinking about this one a bit further, I guess I can just use "static dynamic paint" (oxymoron, I know) by just placing a brush object (and leaving it in place) where I need the verts to serve as mix fac. Not sure if this includes a 'falloff' like vertex group weights, but should serve close enough for my need.
