Shape Keys Folder System
I'm just getting into shape keys, and I'm already loving the process (as you do), and I'm planning on setting up a system where the placement of a bone controls shape keys for different vowel movements, and then I realized that those keys are going to be in the same downward menu as the ones for my hands, arms, and other parts of the body. I think adding a folder system would really up the quality of life for animators, and make things more organized.
I also think that this would make learning blender easier. Putting everything at once in front of newcomers can be very jarring, but to have things neatly put together with folders, and other helpful systems, could help visual learners very much when they don't have to be on a sharp systematic lookout for that one key in the sea of other ones they've already made.
To showcase my idea, I've taken the time to make a visualization of it with Affinity Photo (since I'm not a coder)
If you took the time to read this, thanks. I really love this software, and the community created with it. You just don't see efforts like this very often, y'know?
