Parent curve to the origin of the curve, not to the first handle
I create complex models of anatomy where the arteries, veins and nerves are curves, parented to each other as the official lexicon (Terminologia Anatomica). Editing these vessels is uselessly coplicated because the children are affected every time the first handle is modified.
Couldn't we just parent the curve to the origin of the curve object?

Perhaps a screenshot or video capture is in order.
I've just set up a scene that seems to mimic your description, and editing a handle of the parent curve has no effect on the position of the child curve.
