New file/ workspace for 3D scanning, printing, reverse engineering

When you open Blender or new file it would be awesome if there were an option for 3D scanning, printing, reverse engineering that set units to mm and had a workspace tailored for this work.

While the scaling issue is the main frustration on my mind right now and I'm not thinking of much else that would be custom taylored to this workspace I think over time more recommendations would come forward that would allow it to be much more optimized for this kind of work.

For reference 3DCoat has similar options and a lot of features and capabilities made easily accessible within the workspace when you chose that option.
