Support Gifs in sequencer

blender_XC0qPAOGq9.png every other video editing software supports it. Wether it counts as an image or a video in the import i don't know. But ideally you would be able to see every frame of the gif.

For my purposes i am trying to import specific gifs as references and placeholders in a lengthy music video project

Try to uncheck the file browser filter abutton nd see if they show up as either image or video.

It's 2023. Why are you using GIFs for video production?

Albert-OShea

"Video production" does not always mean movies and TV. Online videos will still use them as overlays just like regular images.

Also I think Blender doesn't support APNGs which are the modern GIFs

same as other answers, but also sometimes gifs are very useful for temporary files. To be replaced later
