Annotate text tool, for labeling things in viewports
Currently we can annotate by scribbling, but what about a text-annotation tool, where we just type a note or a paragraph on the viewport next to an object ?

Would make a lot of sense as brush in the "Annotate tool" in addition to annotate, polygon, line, erase
This seems like it would be really helpful, but would probably require a redesign of how the annotation tool works in order to implement it, as it was designed to be more of a drawing tool.
Another implementation would probably be to have a "Text Object," and an "Annotation Object," where the annotation object is not rendered by default, can better be positioned in 3D space with options to orient itself to the screen / 3D world, draw dynamic arrows to objects in the scene, etc.
Yes ! That will be very helpfull ! It's realy make sens to comment UV MAP for exemple.
Yhea, like it is possible to anotate node group, or frame, it would be cool to have description of object, (empty, mesh, everything) that can be shown in viewport like name can be shown in viewport (or in the menu when object is selected)
Perhaps add a text object to the GP Annotation function? Or just a text GP Object?
that could be a work arround, though "text edit" isn't keyable
We can turn on Object Names in the viewport. It's not quite the same though.
