RCS | Vote-Based Color Grading
We have "top" filter, but we have no some decent visualization for this tops. Also it may work as goals - to achieve next stage. Nowadays people like rarity colors like in games :)
As always - thanks for reading. Also you can check my other suggestions .

i think the idea overall is interesting- though I think it would have the unwanted effect of encouraging competitive behavior with the proposals. I am immediately opposed to anything that 'gamifies' proposals on RCS. a proposal's score should be a reflection of ts overall value to users, not how well it's doing in some sort of meta-game here on RCS. I visualize people upvoting or downvoting simply to keep a proposal from reaching the 'next level' or pushing it that last bit so it lands in the next tier. people are naturally competitive, and I think that this would encourage that type of behavior which would not be useful on RCS imo. I say all of this completely aware of the fact that even our existing 'score' system is a mild gamification, but the comparison is far more crude.
as a complete sidenote- there is also the psychology of color at play- users will gravitate toward bright/contrasty colors, so you might see an increase in activity for proposals in the 200-299 range simply because they show up green, and not because those proposals have any more or less value than others.
TLDR: neat idea, but I'm a pass
Agree. At first I was immediately: Oh yeah. That looks cool. I want that but then my immediate second thought was exactly that: It looks cool. People will want to push it as far as possible because now it's a gamified achievement. And this is counterproductive to what this community should achieve: Get developers to see what people actually want and decide if it's worth implementing it. The pictures/thumbnails were removed to give more equality to each proposal. A gamification push would most likely go in the opposite direction again.
I still do like the idea of highlighting "hot" topics by brighter outline and even just one further for ideas that reached over 100 votes maybe. Just not the progress bar. That's too pushy for the wrong reasons.
Exactly. If we are not doing thumbnails in order to keep posts equal, we should not turn RCS into a game.
Thumbnails is nothing but attractive "self advertising" attached by author it self (no matter what the bullshit proposed inside). Such color frames only to pay tribute to good ideas/author's based on community votes.
Not equal things, but u now convert it to sort of versus... Whatever, I just proposed - u like or not, I'm not ruler this place.
I think it only adds a visual noise. What are those colors supposed to do? Form a biased opinion in the reader about the topic?
sexy!
Without reading explanation these colours just look random. Also not a fan of arbitrary hardcoded ranges. Something more simple could work I guess.
colours just look random - Spectre going from red to yellow to green to blue to purple finally to whole colors together in pure white (for the greatest ideas).
Something more simple could work I guess.
- Show us mockup, don't be shy.
I vote up coz.. sexy.. but in fact is not cognitive. My opinion is that "bulp" can be changed with with
+ 1with half upper and- 1with half down of this bulp part. There is precent.. maybe can be just
50%as number. Let we try do some other rating than can be forwarded to devlpement as precent of user that have some impact for development. Right now on this post +11 and -1 = 97%, but can be +50, -50 = 50% and +1, 0 = 100% (this is low sense). It should be used for devs to get some opinion. The first parameter as important it is counter number for plus and filter by this. Then if more than >50% then GREEN, <50% then RED, 50% white?By this spectrum should be like on democracy yes/not in 2 colours.
@IIIFGIII try in this way. And maybe in midle point of this colour line. On right green, on left red. If many users then more colour to green or red. Or simple.. whole line is 100% and point betwen 0-100%
We already have this lamp to represent positive to negative ratio. This colors represent final positive sum.
Yes, this would help a tonne.
