A featue to convert custom nodeGroups into actual node

My idea is about converting our custom node groups into actual nodes. It would be better if we could add properties to them as well. The main idea is to help those who don't know how to script. it could be through nodes as well.

Node groups already act like a normal node with unique parameters ( youtu.be/_GVrUtmbZeY ). You can even copy them across materials. How does this proposal differ from what's already available?

Also, very little detail is provided about how this would actually work, why it would be beneficial and how it would function in Blender's interface. Providing more information would help the rest of us understand the goal of the proposal and why we should upvote it ;)

The main difference is that node groups cannot be used to control the properties. We cannot change the properties of a node from outside and if it is a complex node setup then it would be difficult. Like if you cannot control the color ramp from outside the node group, but if we had that feature, then we could bring the properties of the color ramp and add or remove stops and change colors easily as the whole color ramp would be controlled outside. And I am not talking about this feature to be in nodegroups but a feature that converts nodegroups into custom nodes.

I would say that what you point out here is a limitation of nodegroups that should be fixed.

Creating a new system to turn nodegroups into standalone nodes would still bring basically nothing, whilst requiring a lot of dev time and effort to achieve.

It sounds like your primary issue is with color ramps not having their controls exposed as inputs which is what this suggestion is to fix: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/KFbbbc Obviously there are some other nodes that run into this issue (eg RGB curves and vector curves) but is there anything else that you want your suggestion to achieve?
