Enhance Knife tool with the ability to remove/disolve edges and verts
Knife tool topology workflow could benefit from having the possibility to also dissolve points and edges, the existing ones and the not yet committed ones, by Alt+Click or Toggle key > Click.
Poly Build's Shift+RMB click does exactly that and even highlights the elements so you know exactly what will be deleted.
This will remove the extra steps: 1. cancel/commit cuts, 2. select, 3. X menu, 4. dissolve edge/verts, 5. back to Knife again.
In fact, I believe that other tools could be improved with this simplified subtractive mode. Please see the proposal for Loop Cut tool .
In the illustration below I used Optimize tool in Max (not really a knife) that can add connecting edges with Ctrl+LMB Drag between points but can also remove edges by Ctrl_Shift+LMB Click.

Interesting idea. Also, the option informing, highlighting which element is under the mouse cursor would be useful. It would help with dense meshes. The good news is that some functionalities are already available in the Poly Build Tool. Probably not a lot of programming.
This would be SO useful for cleaning up topology.
