Remesh modifier should have negative offset value
For 3d printing, the need to have a hollow model is often necessary. I use that during designing parts for for 3d printing. I used that during creating car parts, but I also used that also during sculpting jewellery stuff and making figurines. All polygonal offsets will have a self-intersection problem, except for the volumetric offset (for example, during volumetric remesh). MeshMixer has that feature. Next is to do a Boolean between both (before and after hollowing), plus trim the base to open that mesh.
I`m not sure if that is possible with geometry nodes right now. I work as a car parts designer and design things for 3d printing and moulding, and that feature would allow me to throw out MeshMixer from my drive.
I think that the volumetric remesh modifier operation should have an option to do a negative offset. In 3d printing, that option will save time and money (less material usage during 3d printing in SLA and SLS, MJF, faster 3d printing, cleaner environment). I think that option should be exposed even for basic users.
Below you can see my ZBrush sculpt after hollowing in MeshMixer. I printed that mesh in lost wax and cast it in brass, plated with gold. Without precise hollowing cost would be triple higher
Cheers!!

Right now you can use the 3d print toolbox addon, or the SDF Grid Offset node to do this, but it would be nice to have it in the modifier too.
Mesh to SDF GRID -> SDF Grid Offset -> Grid to Mesh is exactly what I looked for. Thanks
In case it's useful, the newest version of 3d print toolbox upgraded from their old python version to a premade GN modifier, which makes it really easy to apply and can be adjusted easily afterwards.
The 3D-PRINT add-on integrates a Hollow feature I regularly use to hollow my model before 3D-Print my models. It produces a second mesh shrinked you can use as interior cavity by reverting its normal and joining it to the original. I smooth it before and remove all islands that would create small cavities that could cause trouble with resin and I do not want to cope with during slicing.
Here is geometry node doing I think exactly what you want. drive.google.com/file/d/1RwEzIGFr_mqojWcImBtFlQdh34cKghs-/view
Did I really understand what you want ?
I really like what you are producing !
