Use nodes?

Given that I have a lot to learn about blender. Nonetheless, I have done some materials in the Shader Editor using nodes. Also if Everything Nodes is coming, I have…admittedly, a paper cut. Why do wee need to enable "use nodes" in the shader editor?

I propose that "use nodes" be enabled by default; not just to heal a paper cut but to further reduce the collection of multiple small time consuming things that have to be repeatedly (usually unnecessary) done, taking time from art. There should be an option to turn it off.

Hmm. It is enable by default, when I create material with Evee/Cycles on. And no such button in shading, only «+ new»

Do you talking about old 2.79 version? or what?

If I have a model in 2.8 there is no shader in the shader editor. there also is no "use nodes" option and that is ok. When I apply the first and "new" material to it the option is there. I use cycles. What I don't understand is why choose "use nodes" in the shader editor at all. It was called the Node Editor after all.

Can materials be created the shader without using nodes?* @ Vyacheslav *

* @ingapambi * it is ability to off nodes. And yes, there is workbench materials, they don`t use nodes, also cycles can understand such materials. So yes, they can be created without nodes. And they do, when workbench is on
