Rebuild the Simple Deform Bend modifier or at least make an in depth tutorial explaining why it has to be so crazy.
That thing is illogical.
I understand we have to keep a lot of bad things for backwards compatibility but they should consider adding a brand new modifier just for bending that isn't so hard to use.

I understand your request, as I also think the way Simple Deform Bend is handled is massively weird, but I suggest you to expose better your point, explaining where the problems are, possibly introducing solutions, posting screenshots and mockups, etc. Otherwise, a request written like this it's very hard to get noticed by the community and/or the devs, and even harder to understand for new users that might not know Blender that well. I'm suggesting you this only because I know what you mean and I support the modifier's overhaul!
For instance: why there is only an option to change the bending axis (X, Y, Z) but not a rotation angle around that axis?
If you're looking for a tutorial you should instead read the documentation.
In short: It does the specified operation along the axis you use
* @Anže * Oh yes I have read that. I've also watched this: youtube.com/watch They are both a hell of a lot harder to understand than any video about bending objects in Maya or Modo, especially the total nonsense demonstrated at the 6 minute mark of that video.
* @thinsoldier * Well I never seen how Maya or Modo do the bending so could you provide some examples?
* @Anže * I can't find a video demonstrating it working better at any arbitrary angle but this 50 second video shows how it doesn't suffer from the nonsense at the 6 minute mark of the earlier video I linked. youtube.com/watch
