Refer Blender data into multiple workspaces.

It would be awesome if blender had the feature of working with different workspaces connected to each other. Like in MS Excel where you can refer data to different workbooks. Blender should also have the same feature.

Workspaces are just a different UI layout, they don't change the scene's data.

And if you are talking about referencing data from one file to another, that's what links are for.

* @-L0Lock- * That's not what I am talking about. Working on a heavy scene really lags out the project so wouldn't it be cool if we work on various parts on different windows of our project ? For example, modelling in one window and texturing and lighting in another window of the same project.

* @MetalDashx333 * Then just use the local view on different workspaces. You can also use different render layers or scenes.

* @-L0Lock- * Different windows(not workspaces) with the same project. workspaces are different, they appear on the same window but I am talking about different windows. Can't we workout the project in different windows and later join them together ? Take the example of a spreadsheet. It can work with many windows(books) together.

* @MetalDashx333 * You are talking about editors. The "windows" are called workspaces, and what you call "workspaces" are editors.

MS Spreadsheet can connect multiple windows, sheets or books together which should also be implemented in Blender.

I still don't see what you miss. We can have several windows, editors, workspaces, scenes, whatever... Each having data that is linked or not - and each displaying it at the same time or not, as you wish.

If you just want several windows, just create several windows, what's the missing part? Be specific.

If people struggle to understand: show stuff, make mockups. And use the official Blender vocabulary, so we actually talk about the same things.

* @-L0Lock- *I understand but I personally can't see that feature despite trying many times. Ok I will try it again.

* @MetalDashx333 * Is this what you try to achieve? It's just duplicated windows and toggling the local view on specific selection.

This is what I want. Can we work on the same file on different windows like this ?

MetalDashx33 Author

* @-L0Lock- *Exactly!

Lauloque

* @MetalDashx333 * As you can see.... Yes. These are just duplicated windows of the same scene and using the local view to isolate what I want on each window.

@-L0Lock- I really didn't know. Thanks for the info.
