Why hasn't the 'Mock up of the reworked timeline' been implemented yet
I have been trying to use Blender to draw 2D animations, but the current timeline and keyframes are not very user-friendly for creating 2D animations.
When I need to adjust the rhythm of my performance, adjusting the interval between frames before and after is very troublesome. When I need to modify or view a frame, it is also very easy for me to accidentally touch it, causing me to change the position of the keyframe again, or even directly overwrite other keyframes without any reminders.
I once covered a lot of frames without my knowledge in order to modify the image, but due to the lack of prompts and the high risk of accidental touches, I didn't notice for a long time, causing the content I spent a lot of time drawing to disappear.
I have been looking forward to the 'redesigned timeline sketch' because this redesigned UI is very similar to other 2D animation software, so that the rhythm of the animation can be viewed more intuitively on the timeline, and it is not easy to accidentally touch when modifying and adjusting.

Perhaps that is part of the 'UI' work mentioned as happening post 4.0, but if they haven't gotten to it yet then we wait. There is a donation call there at the end as they do need support to get these things worked on, but I'd like to also add that the mock up shown is just that, a mock up and the actual backend code for it might take a while to develop. The whole page sounds positive, so I think that the desired output will be achieved as those working on it need it for their own projects as well.
My English isn't very good, and I wrote this using machine translation. I'm not sure if the tone is off, but I'm really just hoping this feature gets released. Actually, the features in v3 have already impressed me a lot, especially the new eraser, which solves a big problem in usage. The Blender team's support for 2D is confirmed to be great. I've been trying to use Blender as the core of my workflow, but the keyframe and timeline systems are indeed crucial, as they significantly affect my ability to control the animation rhythm by observing the distribution of keyframes on the timeline. So I still hope for this new keyframe system. It might seem unremarkable, but it's actually very important for 2D animation.
