USD format instead of "*.blend" for working file
Just wanted to suggest the idea of moving off .blend files and moving towards .usd format as main file format for editing blender animations. Integration, which we have some of now, is really a great first step, for sure. I was thinking that USD is becoming such a thing in the industry that it likely would bode well for blender to fully hop on board. If someone knows USD already, then easy to understands the workflow. I don't think this is any urgent thing, but likely would help blender be/stay successful.
I don't know enough of USD or blender source to know if this is even possible, but thought I'd throw it out there because likely very good thing if possible.

Generic exachange formats can never save all the program specific data of a program. Neither should they. They are usually made specifically for that - beingg an exchange format. FBX being a bit of an unfortunate outlier since it became such a widely used exchange format for models besides animation which is was usually intended for, if I remember correctly. Either way. No. Native formats are the only ones that should be used while working in any eco system and exchange formats should be used per case to transfer to other programs or engines.
.blend for life
