Option to change/save default settings for all modifiers

There are many requests on the forum to save the default settings for various modifiers. So I think this would be very handy option on each of them. Simply because the presets are not that ones used all the time. And if you work with modifiers very often, it's quite annoying to constantly readjusting them.

Blender has a preset system that'd be more flexible so you can save multiple versions of the same modifier. This proposal only allows one set of settings (plus the default).

That sounds much better. But if I'm not mistaken, these presets are still not implemented with modifiers? And, in general, specific preset must be selected every time you launch Blender. Not sure if the preset can be saved somehow, maybe with startup file?
