Compress the Blender installer at zstandart

Compress the Blender installer when zstandart algorithm. This way, you can save VERY much traffic and reduce the size of the final installer significantly!

They added zstd support for .blend files back in 3.0, I thought they probably considered it for packaging too, but I couldn't find mention of that.

But it doesn't mean that discussion didn't happen, nor that other algorithm weren't considered. And if it wasn't, it would require investigating which algorithm is worth the change. Much like it happened for the .blend compression change.

So which should you use? It depends on the level of compression you want and speed you desire. You may have to pick just one of the two. Speed will depend widely on what binary you use for the compression algorithm you pick. As you will see below: There is a huge difference between using the standard bzip2 binary most (all?) distributions use by default and parallel p bzip2 which can into multi-core computing.

Could You prove comparison of zstandart to current solution with recent release?

I, don't know what the algorithm is right now, but, it's probably something of a simple - zip, maybe. Definitely not 7zip! 7zip is a much stronger compressor!

But, Zstandart, it is fast (weaker compression than 7zip) and relatively effective!
