Extrude operation is canceled by pressing Escape key or right click button

In order to make it consistent with Inset and Bevel operations, which are canceled in the mentioned ways.

I've found that this is one of the most common ways newbies mess up their model's topology: by leaving unnoticed extrusions.

Maybe if you want to have the extruded elements (for whatever reason) in the exact place it was created, you could use the enter key after you press the E key.

what do you guys think?

Yeah, I've had trouble with this before. I think the UX for Extrude could be improved.

Extrude is a combination of two operations: first it creates new geometry, then it goes into normal-aligned translation mode. Pressing ESC should cancel both operations, not just the translation.

@R. Navega:

This is the common error, I always facing the same problem whenever I teach Blender to new user. I should always mentioning them to be careful while they were canceling the extrude operation, but they kept forgeting on this, so in the end they need to clean up the mesh.

So I upvote this one.

I've actually downloaded the Source Code/looking at the code right now, trying to see if i can fix this, but probably over my head.

I agree, that this is inconsistent and very annoying/bad for beginners especially. My friend didn't realize it was even happening and ruined his entire model.

The problem that I see with the extrude code, is that it's not setup as a modal that I can tell, or not same as others /Bevel. Meaning, you can't just cancel. I was going to try to merge some code from Bevel, but I don't think that's going to easily work. Maybe I can use something from LoopCut, but again, that's a modal, but setup in a little bit diff way than Bevel is as well... Extrude just seems very different in how it's written from the others.

I wasted my time because of this too. This is straight bad design.
