Add a materials' library

Hi, I wonder if Blender could have a library to manage the materials (save current mat, add a mat from the library to current object...). Library will have some presets like wood, glass, chrome, toon effect... But the most important is that you could reuse the materials you already create.

Here, what it could look like.

Predefined materials and especially customizable , would attract and maintain the interest of those who don't have any experience with 3d .I have presented blender to a teaching community years ago and it was one of the main features everyone asked for.

I think having a material library is one of the essential things missing in Blender. Surprisingly one of the most overlooked too. When first-time users complain about the steep curve of blender user interface, they (we) compare it with things like C4d, the first thing you see in their UX is the materials library. When you can have quick iterations on materials to tests your scenes you exponentially increase the number of possibilities. I cannot wait to see more progress on this.

a feature of this is missing in the blender all programming Maya modeling, 3Dmax, Zbrush, etc; has this recursso only the blender that stubborn in not having

A lot of the base of this kind of thing is in place with linkable datablocks and the developers are currently working on an asset manager that would support such libraries. That said, I'm very much opposed to having pop-over windows like the ones shown in your mock-up.

@Jason van Gumster: I'm glad to know that will have a library. I don't like myself having too many pop-window but I really hate to scroll up and down continuously for a simple task.

@elreenys: If it were simple, then your mock-up wouldn't have as many options as it does. ;)

I'd like to reduce scrolling, too, but I don't think pop-ups are the way to do it.

@Jason van Gumster: "Simple task" for the user's side, I never said it's an easy one for programmers. :p

@elreenys: I'm talking from the user side as well. Simple is a one-click thing. This is at least two clicks and probably some scrolling, too.
